A HIGHER MAGNIFICATION
Continuing to observe an image of the same liver section, now at a slightly higher magnification, you can observe a pink network and many small blue circles. What you are seing is the pink stained cytoplasm of liver cells and their bluish stained nuclei.
There are also many empty, white spaces of very different shapes. They are lumina (plural of lumen) of blood capillaries, in other words, the inner vascular spaces of blood capillaries.
Observe a warning below the image: the figure of a hand holding a mouse. This indicates that this picture has a special effect if you place the mouse cursor over the image or click on the image. In the new image some of the vascular spaces will appear stained in green.
Liver. Hematoxylin and eosin. Medium magnification.
